Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will lead the Occupational Therapy Department, providing essential services to students with special needs. This role is integral to our Special Education Department’s leadership team, contributing to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and supporting our mission of inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ occupational therapy needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address students’ physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create supportive learning environments.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, both individually and in group settings.
- Monitor and document students’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Train and support staff in implementing strategies to support students’ needs within the classroom.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of comprehensive education plans.
- Lead the Occupational Therapy Department, ensuring high standards of practice and continuous professional development.
- Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in occupational therapy and special education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Valid license to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of various disabilities and their impact on learning and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a department.
- Passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
