About the job
NTU International A/S is leading a consortium for a new EU funded project – Technical Assistance to National Institute of Statistics NISR and is looking to identify individual experts to carry out the assignment.
The objective of this assignment is to contribute to the modernization of statistics production in Rwanda and improve uptake of statistics across the National Statistics System.
Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Duration: The indicative start date is 30/11/2024 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 730 days from this date (indicative end date: 30/11/2026).
Big Data Engineering related Expert (Cat. II)
The expert will design and deliver a comprehensive training program on data engineering. The expert should have In-Depth Knowledge of big data infrastructure technologies: The trainer should have comprehensive knowledge of each visualization tool’s features, strengths, and limitations. This includes hands-on experience with setup, configuration, and advanced functionalities. Understanding of Big Data infrastructure technologies: Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Elasticsearch) and how they integrate with visualization tools.
Expert category: Home Based – Cat. II (>6 years of experience)
Qualifications and skills:
- Minimum of Master’s Degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, Statistics , Big Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Expertise in data engineering, including experience with R, Python, and other data science analysis tools.
- Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, legal, and ethical considerations.
- Proven ability to design and deliver technical training programs.
- Experience in integrating mobile data with traditional data sources.
- Language skills: English.
General professional experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Data engineering and Analytics.
- Experience in handling large datasets, big data sources and developing scalable data processing workflows.
Specific professional experience:
- At least 3 years of experience working with Data Engineering projects for statistical or research purposes.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing training programs focused on big data technologies, engineering and analytics.
Additional information:
- Data Handling Skills: proficiency in managing, querying, and transforming data using SQL, Python, or other relevant languages.
- The program will focus on core data engineering skills, including building ETL pipelines, managing large datasets, and using distributed computing frameworks like HDFS, MapReduce, and YARN.
- Skills in data processing, analysis, and integration of data engineering tools and techniques.
