JOB OPPORTUNITIES ADVERTISEMENT
The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) is the only Public University in Zanzibar established by Act No. 8 of the House of Representatives of 1999 which was amended by Act No. 11 of 2009, and further re-amended by Act No. 7 of 2016, Act No 1 Part 4 of 2019 and Act No. 13 of 2020. It is University vision to be the most preferred University in the Eastern Africa.
SUZA has been expanding in academic programs as well as student enrolment and thus hereby invites applications from qualified and competent aspirants to be considered to fill the following academic and administrative vacant posts.

QUALIFICATIONS
Holder of a PhD, a Master Degree with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and the First Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5 out of 5 in the relevant field.
Prior experience in teaching at University level is an added advantage.
NOTE: For the vacant posts of medical disciplines:
i) Lecturer in Gynecology; ii) Lecturer in Surgery and; iii) Lecturer in Internal Medicine must be: ▪ Holder of a Master Degree (Mmed) with a minimum GPA of
4.0 out of 5 and the First Degree (MD) with at least a GPA of 3.5 out of 5.
▪ Prior experience in teaching at University level is an added advantage.
i) Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry; ii) Lecturer in Periodontology and;
iii) Lecturer in Pediatric Dentistry must be:
Holder of a Master Degree (MDent) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 out of 5 and the First Degree (DDS) with at least a GPA of 3.5 out of 5.
Prior experience in teaching at University level is an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lecturer is expected to:
Carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical, invigilation and assessment for undergraduate and postgraduate programs;
Conduct research and publish in the areas of specialization; iii) Carry out consultancies and community services; iv) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results; v) Write teaching manuals and compendia; vi) Attend/organize workshops, conferences and symposia; vii) Mentor junior staff in relevant fields; viii) Supervise field practical, undergraduate special projects, Master’s dissertations/theses and;
ix) Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by relevant authorities.
ADMINISTRATIVE VACANT POSTS
i) IT Officer Grade II (Two posts – One post Unguja, one post Pemba)
QUALIFICATIONS
Holder of BSc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field from recognized Higher Learning Institution by Revolution Government of Zanzibar.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i) Analyze, design and program medium size applications;
ii) Install standard software and server operating systems;
iii) Install networking hardware/software;
iv) Develop and maintain website and intranet;
v) Install modems and dial–up networking;
vi) Solve complex hardware/software problems;
vii) Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the relevant authority.

REMUNERATION
An attractive salary with other statutory benefits as per Government directives shall be offered to the selected candidates.

Failure to do that, their applications will not be considered.
Certificates from Foreign Examination Bodies for Ordinary or Advanced Level Education should be verified by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) and for Technical Education should be verified by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).
Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).
