Job Description

Northern Engineering Works Ltd (NEWL) is seeking to recruit Field Technicians to join Operations Team. Successful Candidates for this position will carry out standardized Sites Preventive & Corrective Maintenance and Generator Service as per the agreed Service Level
Agreement.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Standard Day Requirements
  • Attend Daily Cluster Meetings and any other as per the Requirements
  • Follow Site Access Procedures
  • Execute Site Preventive Maintenance as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Proper Maintenance of Client’s & NEWL Assets
  • Ensure 100% DC Power Availability on assigned sites
  • Attend Callouts within ETR time
  • Ensure all assigned sites are visible at NOC
  • Ensure all assigned Site Work Orders (SWO) are closed within SLA time
  • Ensure all Alarms are properly terminated and configured at sites
  • Ensure DG’s are maintained as per Manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Ensure Air conditioner Units are properly maintained as per Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Ensure High Data Integrity on Service Now
  • Do Site Earth Measurement
  • Attend Scheduled Trainings
  • Maintain Assigned portable DG
  • Ensure portable rectifier is properly kept at GMT
  • Submit detailed RCA for Corrective Maintenance tasks
  • Maintain Sites & Company Assets with High Level of Integrity
  • Maintain Partnership with Client
  • Ensure Site Fire Extinguishers are properly Maintained as per Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Ensure all RMS are Communicating
  • Ensure Fuel Delivery Work Orders (FDWO’s) & Luku are closed as per Service Level Agreement (SLA)
  • Ensure PM’s are completed as per the Plan
  • Ensure SLA Spares and consignment stock is properly taken care of
  • Ensure GMT Store is well maintained
  • Request replenishment of SLA spares on daily basis (Maintain Maximum Level)
  • Train and Mentor Field Trainees
  • Timely request of Skill set uplifting
  • Any other task as assigned and deemed necessary for the successful delivery of the job

SHEQ Responsibilities:

  • SHEQ Compliance on all Projects
  • Reporting any identified Near miss, Hazards and SHEQ Non conformities to NEWL SHEQ Manager
  • To report at least one (1) near miss and one (1) hazard each month
  • To ensure no planned work is undertaken without (Field Level Risk Assessment) preparation and communication
  • To report any incident/property damage within 24hrs
  • Use of Proper PPE’s
  • Ensure JMP is filled when driving more than 150km’s or 3Hrs
  • Ensure Proper Waste Disposal
  • Do Daily Vehicle Inspection
  • Attend to Mandatory OSHA Examination
  • Shall cooperate with SHEQ team during occupation incidents and accidents reporting and investigation once required

Qualification:

  • Diploma or Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
  • At Least 3 Years of related position
  • EWURA Registered
  • ERB Registered

Skills/ Abilities & Knowledge Requirement:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong IT skills particularly in use of Excel and Project Management reporting tools
  • Proactive, Innovative, Attention to Details
  • Assertive
  • Self-reliance in the management of assigned tasks
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Familiar with proper installation procedures for power infrastructure and reticulation at BTS sites
  • Computer literate and familiar with MS word, Power Point, Excel and Visio
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
