Job Description

  • As a Senior Technical Buyer, your primary responsibility will be operational – you will manage the procurement of material and spare parts required for our project in Tanzania (construction of a jetty).
  • You will offer technical assistance and know-how in relation to alternative materials, techniques, services, methods, suppliers aiming to added value for the project and the client.
  • You will be responsible to make proposals for improvements within the project.
  • You will participate to cost reduction programs within the equipment categories including commercial levers, market knowledge, synergies and technical improvements.
  • You will maintain the suppliers’ database in your field of activity, including the market intelligence, and a pricing base.
  • You will reach for sustainable cost reduction integrating risk analysis and quality control.
  • You will enthusiastically collaborate with the project team on site, the equipment responsible and other support services, be a role model, a leader and a great motivator.
  • You will report to the Project Director on site.
  • You will be accountable for the quality and professionalism of your purchase service delivery and will demonstrate full ownership.
  • You will consult effectively with internal customers/suppliers and efficiently collaborate with the project team as well as with your other internal clients.

Qualifications

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree, ideally as in a technical or commercial field.
  • You have at least a first relevant experience as Technical Buyer within a multinational and complex environment.
  • Experience in the fields of construction or civil works, and/or with the implementation of an ERP is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of English. All other languages are an asset.
  • Persevering, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial, combined with a strong sense of responsibility, ethic and flexibility
  • Great negotiator and can deal with complex and difficult customers’ demands.
  • You know what is active listening.
  • Communicative and provide your internal customers pro-actively with preventive information.
You are willing to work in Tanzania as an expat in a remote place.
