PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGMENT

Contribute to the VAM evidence base that supports CBT, food security, and nutrition policies and programmes (e.g., needs assessment and situation analyses, market assessments, targeting, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency).

ACCONTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the RAM team at the CO in Maputo with the creation of a strategy to integrate essential needs components into national vulnerability frameworks;
  2. Support the Cash Based Transfers (CBT) team in conducting market functionality assessments in several provinces of Mozambique.
  3. Train staff at the CO and in field offices on markets assessments, price monitoring, essential need analysis, data analysis and reporting;
  4. Collaborate with the Government of Mozambique and WFP colleagues for updating Minimum Expenditure Baskets and transfer values in priority provinces;
  5. Support the VAM team leader with production of quarterly food security and nutrition reports and price monitoring bulletins.
  6. Lead targeting activities carried out by the RAM team, in particular the Vulnerability based targeting exercise in Cabo Delgado and joint targeting activities with UNHCR for assistance to refugees in Maratane camp;
  7. Collaborate with the M&E team leader to improve monitoring processes and identify synergies with VAM activities;
  8. Act as deputy lead of the VAM team, supporting with budgeting, workplans and recruitment;
  9. Support standardization of food security, nutrition, prices and market data and sharing within WFP and with partners.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: University degree in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health/Nutrition, Geography or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience:

CST I:  At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, market evaluations, price monitoring, food security and vulnerability analysis, accountability, and statistics

Languages:  International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language; intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language languages is an asset.
