Job Function

Operates the Quay crane during the loading / discharging of containers from vessel

Key Performance Areas:

  • Loading / discharging of containers from vessel/ trucks and vice versa
  • Control the safety and discipline in the work area
  • Follow the signals of Hatch man, vessel Tally clerk and Lasher
  • Ensure safe movement and placing of containers or other cargoes, and transfer of staff and lashing gears
  • Check /inspect any defect / damages and report them immediately to avoid further damage to the equipment
  • Ensure that the boom is clear of any obstructions such as the ship’s Mast, ship’s Radar and Antenna when travelling the Quay crane
  • Secure the cabin position in the back-reach before travelling to any desired direction, to have a wide view and check for any obstructions at the crane railways
  • Report any vessel damage noticed to hatch man
  • Do not move the crane until the vessel is completely secured
  • When operations are finished completely, boom – up, shut off and anchor the crane
  • Undertake routine cleaning of cabin and windows from inside
  • Strictly follow the storm and bad weather procedures
  • Contribute to achieving the company targets by following QHSE rules and regulations for operating and maintenance procedures related to job activities.
  • Report and respond immediately as appropriate to any hazardous condition/act.

Qualifications Required:

  • Above Intermediate Educational Degree
  • Certified by Bandari College with relevant equipment
  • Operating License from Bandari College

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Work Experience in terminal operations minimum 2 years in the same role
  • Fully Conversant with Safety Procedures
  • Good communication skills
  • Good English language both spoken and written
  • Able to work with group.
  • Able to adapt with the variable work conditions
  • Able to work in shifts
