Supervisor Position Strategic Insights Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

To carry out specific investigative analysis of JTI Tanzania and Tanzanian market data at national and regional level, as well as at brand, customer and consumer level to gather valuable insights as an input into company strategies. To conduct planning and forecasting based upon in depth analysis of the above data. To set up and carry out routine reporting on market volume & share performance, pricing, distribution, and merchandising excellence. To work closely with Marketing & Sales pillars in determining needs for consumer & customer insights and designing appropriate research projects to gather those insights. To manage information and data from the Business Intelligence (BI) or TME system and generate and disseminate relevant reports from it.

Education

Business Education ideally with Consumer Research background

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years working experience of which 3~4 years in research agency or market research department. Experience in data analysis or data science is crucial ideally in a FMCG company. Comfortable in working at senior management level.

Main Areas of Responsibility

 

  • Develops and continually improves sales information and reporting systems (TME Lite, reporting templates, etc.) as well as ensures continuous follow-up and sound analysis of consumer, shopper, competitive and trade data.
  • Ensures proper allocation of research funds to relevant activities as part of the A&SP process and appropriate management of research spends.
  • In conjunction with the HQ Research Group, Marketing & Sales pillar and research agencies initiates and develops research projects to provide information on consumer needs/profiles/behaviours (general and at POC), segmentation dynamics, channel and trade characteristics as well as equity of TCC brands. Initiates management summaries with conclusions and recommendations on actions to take to build TCC brands.
  • Monitors the emerging medium to long-term trends among target smokers, selected channels and the retail environment. Uses this knowledge to generate insight and intelligence for the Portfolio & Strategy pillar to formulate future strategies on existing and potential new brands/products or trade/channel strategies.
  • Work in close collaboration with respective managers of Marketing & Sales as well as Regional/branch managers in order to ensure a focus on Marketing & Sales function’s information (insight and intelligence) needs and optimal capture of lessons learnt.
  • Analyse & utilize all the available data in company (research data, sales data and finance) and develop regular and ad hoc reports to support management.
