DSW Tanzania is a DSW Country Office registered in Tanzania with the head office in Tengeru-Arusha and liaison offices in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam. We are seeking to recruit a Social Entrepreneurship Officerfor an accelerator project that focuses on empowering women to create impactful business start-ups for reproductive health information, services, and products.

Project Background and Description

The POWER accelerator project is a one-year intensive program that provides entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to grow and scale their businesses. This transformative initiative seeks to provide comprehensive support to women entrepreneurs aged 21-35, and includes the development of a comprehensive business curriculum. The initiative also engages in a multi-sectorial mapping approach, creates open dialogues, and networking opportunities. POWER is a unique opportunity for women entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level and to make a real difference in the lives of women and families in Tanzania.

Position Summary

The Social Entrepreneurship Officer will be responsible for the further development and implementation of the POWER accelerator. The officer will coordinate day-to-day program operations and planned activities, including monitoring and reporting. This person will actively seek and engage with external investors and stakeholders on behalf of the entrepreneurs and create implementation plans for individual investments. Additionally, the officer will engage in multi-sectoral mapping and networking, and in promoting the accelerator online.

Tasks and Duties

· Work with senior management in the development and set-up of the POWER accelerator.

· Coordinate day-to-day program operations and planned activities, including monitoring and reporting. This includes implementing project plans, tracking progress against goals, and reporting on a regular basis.

· Coordinate the ‘call for applications’ to the program, selection of entrepreneurs, recruitment of trainers, and assist the trainers with the development of the Accelerator curriculum.

· Actively seek and engage with external investors and stakeholders on behalf of the entrepreneurs. This includes building relationships with potential investors, pitching investment opportunities, and negotiating terms of investment.

· Create implementation plans for individual investments. This includes developing detailed plans for how investments will be used to support the growth of social enterprises resulting from POWER.

· Engage in multi-sectoral mapping and networking. This includes identifying and connecting with potential partners from government, the private sector, and civil society.

· Promote the accelerator online. This includes updating DSW’s blog/website, social media accounts, and other online platforms.

· Overseeing the delivery of training and workshops. This includes working with trainers in developing and delivering training programs, as well as managing the logistics of workshops and events, such as the final POWER Demo Day.

· Evaluating the impact of the Accelerator. This includes collecting data, conducting surveys, and analyzing results to assess the impact of the Accelerator on its participants and the broader community.

· Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Skills

• Degree in business, management, or related subject.

• A proven track record of working in the social entrepreneurship/start-up environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. English fluency is a must.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• A commitment to social justice and gender equality.

• Supportive of DSW’s mission, vision, and core values.

• Experience in partnership building and the ability to work collaboratively with entrepreneurs.

• Excellent report writing skills.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Pro-active and ready to take initiative.

• At least three years of experience in a related field.
