About the role

In line with Nutrition International’s strategic objectives in Africa, and, in partnership with key stakeholders in Tanzania, to arrange and provide appropriate technical and other assistance to the Government of Tanzania and/or other stakeholders to help them provide, on a sustainable basis,
improved child, adolescent and women’s health and nutrition services, particularly those at most risk, within which appropriate micronutrient interventions are integrated and achieve sustained high coverage and utilization.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a regularly updated landscape analysis is available on the Iodized salt and Vitamin A supplementation programs in Tanzania.
  • Develop and plan projects in Tanzania in collaboration with key stakeholders and partners that respond to programming gaps in the situation analyses and that aim to ensure appropriate intake of micronutrients by targeted groups.
  • Ensure regular coordination for salt iodization and VAS programming with key partners to ensure NI funding for these interventions are being used cost-effectively.
  • Assist the Country Director with the management of NI-funded fortification and VAS programs in Tanzania and any other fortification programs that may arise.
  • Ensure regular coordination meetings with key stakeholders to ensure NI funding for programs is being used cost-effectively and programs NI supported program activities are on track during implementation.
  • Participate in the design of research and evaluation activities and work closely with researchers and external evaluators to ensure research and evaluations exercises are feasible, responds to NI, stakeholders and government needs and is disseminated in timely fashion.
  • Build and maintain good collaborative relations with Ministry of Health, other government agencies, UN agencies, and NGOs, as appropriate to promote information sharing and effective coordination of effort to improve and sustain effective and efficient adolescent and women health and nutrition program.

About You

You have;

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university in Public Health, Reproductive Health, Community Health or Nutrition.
  • Post graduate certificate in project management.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in child health, reproductive health and public health, nutrition, food sciences and/or related field in Tanzania or elsewhere.
  • Experience in program/project implementation/supervision, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience with micronutrient supplementation programs for children desirable.
