The Rift Valley children’s fund is a recognized non-governmental organization operating in the karatu district of Tanzania.

The Rift Valley Children’s Fund (RVCF) is seeking health workers who will be joining our medical team. RVCF is a thriving community based organization operating at Rift Valley Children’s Village, providing health care, high quality education as well as economic opportunity and training to the residents of the Oldeani Ward.

School Nurse

Your Duties as School Nurse at OLDEANI SECONDARY SCHOOL (OSS) and OLDEANI PRIMARY SCHOOL (OPS) includes, but are not limited to

  • Provide healthcare services to students in case of any illness and injuries.
  • Develop health plans for students with chronic diseases and disabilities
  • Educate students and staff on healthy habits such as hygiene.
  • Detect health challenges in early stages through regular screening
  • Update student medical history
  • Ensure the school environment is safe for students and school staff ( Example prevention of communicable disease).
  • Facilitate hospital referrals for the students and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local health laws and regulations.
  • Handling medical emergency cases during the night at Oldeani Secondary School.
  • Follow the proper channel of communication and reporting system in case of emergency or any sensitive medical case report.
  • Provide basic health education such as first aid training a minimum of 1 session per quarter per school.
  • Work with RVCF medical team on annual health physical screening and deworming activities.
  • Keep updated medical records as required by law and by RVCF.
  • Be a role model for the students especially in speaking English.
  • Do any other duties assigned to you by the head of school, education directors and RVCF health director.

Qualifications.

  • Holding certificate or Diploma in Nursing (Enrolled Nurse (EN) or Registered Nurse (RN))
  • Fluent in English
  • Holding TNMC registration certificate
  • Valid TNMC license
  • Able to work with teenagers
  • Good communication skill and decision making
  • Able to work in remote area
