Job Purpose
The successful candidate will set direction and strategy for Occupational Safety, Health, Environment & Risk performance for the business through provision and assurance of policies, procedures, systems, applicable legislative/regulatory requirements, and minimum standards.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop medium and long term SHE Strategy, goals and set direction for the SHE performance.
- Actively engage through the RDO and Functional Heads to align business goals & IPA’s that support Safety as the number one strategic priority.
- Ensure clarity and integration of ESG expectations into operational control, systems management and reporting requirements as it relates to SHE.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre to access world class SHE benchmarks and best practices and ensure business activities and individuals adhere to the organization’s SHE policies, procedures, minimum standards and mandatory instructions to protect the wellbeing of individuals and minimize business risk.
- Ensure there is a quick, appropriate and effective response to any SHE incident, working closely with the executive and other stakeholders.
- Create clarity of risk tolerance and ensures plans, goals and governance processes are aligned.
- Lead and direct SHE Operational Control and fatal risk management processes, interventions and program associated with determining and addressing business risk within ABFS.
- Provide specialist advice to the Executive/Leadership team to influence and guide the implementation of SHE policy and the design and implementation of projects and change initiatives.
- Partner closely with Executives/Leaders and functional team leads throughout the business, building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust, and ensuring they have access to high quality advice and guidance to support in delivering SHE strategy and plans.
- Provide expert advice on managing and applying systems of work, reduction of risk exposure and overall improvement towards expected culture maturity.
- Ensure business SHE plans associated with delivering towards strategic intent have substance and are adequate to deliver to expectation.
- Ensure compliance and performance monitoring are aligned to shifting the current state of performance and culture.
- Guide Senior Leadership on risk management and relevant mitigating actions, lead and manage controls to reduce risk exposure.
- Develop SHE capability and competence and ensure adequate capacity within the function and within operations.
- Effectively manage and reduce the risk exposures and realities present in the company.
- Enable the required shifts in accountability that create line independence for safety ownership.
- Ensure the correct coverage to influence, coach, support and supervise compliance and continual improvement.
- Reduce the complexity of integrated SHE management expectations through building strong interfaces with Operations, HR, ESG Reporting, RDO, Commercial and Finance.
- Ensure resourcing and decisions priorities Safety in enabling the step change in culture, maturity and performance.
- Manage contractor and third-party compliance.
- Ensure Management of Change (Plant modification. Etc.) is effectively controlled.
- Deliver accurate data for reporting expectations.
Job Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Safety, Risk Management or Reliability Engineering disciplines.
- 10+ years’ experience in Senior Management in a multinational organization, including leading and influencing behavior change.
- Expertise in Environment management and control.
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be engaged on Permanent Contract.
