Position: Project Officer

Organization Overview: WWF is a global environmental conservation organization active in over 100 countries. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the earth’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature by conserving the world’s biological diversity, ensuring the sustainable use of renewable natural resources, and promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

Project Overview: WWF International leads the GBF project, focusing on accelerating the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) through Community-Led Conservation in Tanzania, alongside four other countries: Vietnam, Republic of Congo, Tunisia, and Papua New Guinea. The project aims to:

  • Ensure full and effective participation of Indigenous people and local communities (IP&LCs) in developing/reviewing National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs).
  • Implement and monitor conservation activities at site and landscape levels.
  • Advocate for new and additional funding for biodiversity through National Biodiversity Finance Plans (NBFPs).
  • Leverage and amplify experiences and lessons learned to galvanize action and advocacy for ambitious and inclusive NBSAPs and NBFPs regionally and globally.
