Job Description

Responsibilities:

· Developing and implementing operational strategies and plans in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

· Overseeing all activities related to port operations, including vessel scheduling, berthing, cargo handling, and port security.

· Managing the customs clearance process for imported and exported goods, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation requirements.

· Monitoring operational expenses, analyzing variances, and implementing cost-saving measures to maintain financial stability.

· Coordinating with shipping agents, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to arrange transportation of goods to and from the port.

· Monitoring inventory levels at the port facility and ensuring adequate stock levels to meet demand while minimizing excess inventory costs.

· Establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and conducting regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement.

· Implementing quality control measures to ensure that goods are handled and stored appropriately to prevent damage or loss during transit.

· Enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations at the port facility.

· Maintaining accurate records of all port activities, including cargo manifests, customs documentation, and financial transactions. Generating reports for management as needed.

· Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing measures to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

· Developing and implementing emergency response plans to address any unforeseen events or disruptions that may occur at the port facility.

Requirements and qualifications

1. Diploma /bachelor’s degree in, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

2. Candidate should have at least 3 years of experience working in port operations, logistics, or freight forwarding is highly desirable.

3. Leadership abilities to manage a team of port operations staff and coordinate activities to achieve operational objectives.

4. Familiarity with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and government authorities.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to identify and resolve issues efficiently.

7. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
