Short Brief of the Company
Dark Earth Carbon is a company that aims to reverse climate change by producing biochar, a type of charcoal that can sequester carbon and improve soil health. The company works with smallholder farmers in Africa, who can benefit from biochar application by increasing their crop yields, income, and resilience to drought and famine. We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined individual to join our team as a Junior Technical Operator. This role offers an exciting opportunity for growth and hands-on experience in biochar industry.
- To set up the appraisal system of the company, including a schedule of interviews to follow up on employees’ progress, long and short-term goals, and expectations.
- To be acquainted with the day-to-day human resources tasks such as: staff attendance, end of the month payroll, sick days records, advances requests, loans requests, training schedule and records, etc.
- To lead the monthly health and safety meetings.
- To be acquainted with all the company policies and procedures regarding the HR department.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, employee complaints, terminations, and investigations in accordance with company policy.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent qualification.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing priorities.
- Previous experience in a technical or industrial environment is a plus, but not required.
