The Africa Muslims Agency (AMA/Direct Aid), a Kuwait-based nonprofit organization, founded the University College of Education Zanzibar (UCEZ) in 1998. This served as the foundation for the establishment of Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT University).
Thus, the owner of the University is AMA/Direct Aid and it is a product of its founder, Dr. Abdulrahman Hamoud Al-Sumait (1947- 2013), an accomplished physician, philanthropist, educator, researcher, author, pioneer and AMA founding member from whom the University bears its name.

The University is situated at Chukwani on the island of Zanzibar in the United Republic of Tanzania. It is roughly 5.5 kilometers from the Old Stone Town seaport, 2.5 kilometers from Abeid Karume International Airport, and only 150 meters from the Indian Ocean’s west coast.

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar granted the University a 120,000 square meter space. It is charmed by the beautiful green scenery of trees and the fragrance of blooming flowers. The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), at its 63rd Meeting on March 27, 2014, approved SUMAIT University as a private university on May 14, 2014.

The university is expanding, and to meet her current needs, it is also restructuring its programs and adding new positions.
Thus, in order to fill the following open academic and administrative positions, Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT) wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified and competent Individuals: –
