Job Description

Overview

The Intern will report to the Technical Advisor – Gender and Respectful Care.  Internship is part of the practicum-training period for any student before he/she is regarded as an expert in a particular field. This may only happen when a person has been placed in a controlled agency with lifelike set-ups in order to be able to apply theoretical knowledge acquired through classroom sessions to learn handling difficult tasks and solving problematic situations faced by the people in their real practical life. In other word gain practical experience of putting theories in practices to solving people’s problems. In this regards, the intern will benefit from accumulating practical experience of solving public health problems associated with social inequality norms, particularly social hindrances to women’s and girls accessibility and utilization of RMNCAH services.   He/she will use this opportunity as evidence to justify his/her working experience when applying for the permanent job within practicum organisation or elsewhere after successfully completion of his/ her internship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support for implementation of planned activities for G&RC mainstreaming and integration at both facility and community level
  • Plan, prepare, and participate in facility-based  G&RC On-the-Job Training (OJT) in project regions, including  support to G&RC mentors to cascade G&RC OJT to their nearby facilities
  • Plan and participate in G&RC virtual re-orientation to R/CHMTs, MOI and matrons/patrons from CEmONC sites in target regions
  • Write draft-training reports and submit timely to Technical Advisor for further review.
  • In collaboration with program regional lead participate in MNH Integration Supportive Supervision (ISS)  to follow up and  reinforce integration of G&RC through implementation of action plans which were developed during G&RC OJT
  • Support facilities with no trained G&RC mentors to develop functional G&RC action plans and link them with trained mentors in their vicinities for cross support.
  • Follow up printing of G&RC material from procurement unit and plan for dissemination
  • Perform any other task as you may be requested by supervisor 

Required Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with First degree in discipline of medicine (Medical Doctor, Nursing); master’s degree in public health will be a benefit.
  • Knowledge in providing technical assistance and coordination of Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-discipline team-based organizational structure
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Tanzania Primary Health Care (PHC) system, particularly the public health system in Tanzania is preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English for presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong skills in word processing, Excel spread sheets and power point
  • Ability to travel up to 40% time
  • Understanding of RMNCAH service deliveries and management
  • Knowledge in addressing social cultural issues and harmful gender norms
  • Practical know how for community mobilization and engagement
  • Understanding of USAID programs could be an added advantage
