HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

Kafika House is an I-NGO that runs the Kafika House programme. We provide a safe and loving home away from home for children receiving pre-and post-operative care and rehabilitation for surgically treatable disabilities, which may include: cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, skeletal fluorosis, burn scar contractures, osteomyelitis, hydrocephalus and spina bifida. Our vision is that no child in Tanzania lives with a treatable disability. 

Job Overview and General Responsibilities

To manage all aspects of human resources to support the organisation’s mission and objectives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, recruiting and retaining qualified staff, managing employee relations, overseeing performance management systems, professional development, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations.

Location

Themi Hill, Arusha, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer. The role may include travel to other locations.

Key working relationships with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Finance Officer, Operations Manager, Medical Services Manager, Outreach Manager, Business Manager, Business Administrator, Operations Administrator, Facility Manager, and Facility Coordinators.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Further develop and implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with the governance handbook, the annual work plan, and legal requirements.
  2. Carry out the recruitment, selection, and hiring process of all new staff, including job postings, shortlisting, interviewing, contracts, and registration requirements.
  3. Manage employee onboarding and orientation processes to ensure smooth transitions for new hires.
  4. Develop and implement employee training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  5. Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and career development planning.
  6. Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances, in accordance with organisational policies and Tanzanian labour laws.
  7. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  8. Develop quarterly HR Reports 
  9. Monitor and analyse HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. 
  10. Stay informed about changes in labour laws and regulations and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  11. Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and concerns.
  12. Promote a positive organisational culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  13. Any other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.

Education, skills, and experience

  1. Holder of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role, preferably in a non-profit organization or healthcare setting.
  3. Thorough understanding of HR principles, practices, procedures, Tanzanian labour laws, and regulations.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Fluent in both Kiswahili and English
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  7. Proficiency in HRIS software is a plus.
