Job Description

Kifaru Group is looking for a highly qualified Head of Finance to oversee and manage all financial activities of its’ beverage distribution business in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. The incumbent will be based in Dar es Salaam with travel to other regions of Tanzania.

The Kifaru Group is a group of companies specialized in international turn-key project development and management as well as procurement, logistics, hospitality industry, and food and beverage supply, including sale of high-quality wines, cheeses, and other fine foods and deli items. The group focus is in the Sub-Saharan African region, with presence in multiple African countries.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Head of Finance will perform a wide range of responsibilities. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the financial reporting for the organisation. This includes monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Providing sound financial support and insights to enable the Managing Director and General Manager to make critical business decisions.
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Financial and Management Accounting functions.
  • Advising and implementing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs.
  • Managing and overseeing the company’s financial systems.
  • Conduct risk management to ensure the business has a solid risk framework in place.
  • Allocating resources and managing cash flows.
  • Conducting profit and cost analyses.
  • Analysing and interpreting financial data to prepare reports, financial statements, and presentations.
  • Developing secure procedures to maintain confidential information.
  • Ensuring all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations.
  • Managing the External Auditor relationship and ensuring the organisation is compliant with accounting standards.
  • Managing and overseeing the taxation affairs and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Supervising a team of accounts.

Requirements 

  • Must be a chartered accountant.
  • Registration with accredited statutory body and association.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience as head of finance, director of finance or similar role.
  • Experience in Beverage Import and Distribution Industry or FMCG import and distribution is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping.
  • Dedicated, flexible, hardworking and keeping to deadlines.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Consistently accountable and takes ownership/responsibility for their role.
  • Be able to cope well under pressure and willingness to work during peak hours when needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
