Job Description
For our East African Region, we are seeking to recruit a Finance Director East African Region (f/m/d).
You will report in direct line to the General Manager East African Region as well as in dotted line to the Finance Director AMWA, and you will be based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
Your next challenge
- Provide the General Manager and the Managing Board with the necessary information on any financial aspect they have to take into consideration when making business decisions.
- Lead the financial activities of the operations including the financial reporting, controlling, accounting, payroll, treasury, tax and IT within Tanzania.
- Drive the financial strategy for the Region from the strategic targets set by the Group CEO, the Group CFO, the HM Board Member AMWA and the GM East African Region.
- Implement strategies with the most efficient use of available resources in compliance with HM’s Group (financial) guidelines and ensure value generation, cost efficiency, cash generation and risk control in all areas (whether financial, tax and/or legal aspects).
- Manage and supervise the accounting, controlling and consolidation functions in TPCPLC and the East African Region (=EAR) (Tanzania, DRC, Mozambique and South Africa) ensuring that all reports are submitted on time with good quality supporting schedules for management review.
- Support and challenge the management team to ensure financial decisions are optimal for TPCPLC.
- Ensure that the Region has good quality budget and forecast tools, allowing budgets and forecasts to be reported on time to the parent company.
- Manage the relationship with the external auditors of the company.
- Develop and maintain processes and procedures for optimal financial and internal control.
- Work with the General Manager and other members of the managing team to provide financial input and control on business projects, capital investments & other initiatives.
- Optimize the cash flow and working capital position of the company for the benefit of TPCPLC’s stakeholders and the Group.
- Manage the relationship with the local tax authorities, and to ensure systems are in place to enable transparent reporting and optimization of the company’s tax bill.
- Optimize the tax situation of the company.
- Ensure that the ERP systems in TPCPLC and in the EAR Region are implemented and used optimally.
- Continually challenge and improve business processes in order to reduce inefficiencies.
- Ensure an optimal set-up of the companies within Tanzania.
- Analyze and manage the requirements to build up a shared service center approach in Tanzania and ensure efficient operation.
- Develop and provide leadership for the finance team, including appraisal of their performance and identifying their relevant training needs.
Your profile
- University degree in Business Administration/Economy preferably with emphasis on accounting and/or finance
- At least 10 or more years professional experience in a mid- or large-size production industry, extractive industry experience highly preferable
- At least 2 years of management experience in sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage
- At least 4 years of management position experience
- Technical expertise in both financial and management reporting with a solid working knowledge of international accounting rules
- Expertise in Infor-applications is an advantage
- IT proficiency
- Ability to have an overview of the organization and its financial performance whilst also being able to guide the finance team on a daily basis
- Excellent management skills including implementation and decision making with a clear focus on speed, communication, analytical thinking and leadership
- Energetic “hands on” approach with good organization skills and the ability to prioritize
- Structured and target oriented working style
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Fluency in English, written as well as oral
- Experience of living in Africa is an advantage
