Job Description

Overview

Reporting to the Zonal Manager, he/she is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business relationships for the bank within the zone.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To initiate proposals for new business and develop relationships with prospective clients in conjunction with the Business Development Manager.
  • To assist in expanding current business in accordance with bank’s plans and strategies.
  • To assist clients applying for the bank’s facilities and manage client’s business relationships.
  • Negotiating Deals: BDO must have strong negotiation skills to close deals with potential customers, including pricing, terms, and conditions.
  • Developing Sales Proposals: BDO must be able to develop sales proposals and presentations that effectively communicate the bank’s value proposition to potential customers.
  • Provide a superior level of customer relations and service; and ensure compliance with bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Obtain all the client information necessary for the appraisal of a credit proposition and liaise with Credit Analysts as and when appropriate;
  • To carry out market research for possible expansion and development of new projects/business.
  • To retain customers within the assigned portfolio – Ensure retention ratio of 90%.

  • Cross-Selling Bank Products and Services: BDO must be knowledgeable about the bank’s products and services, and be able to identify opportunities to cross-sell them to existing and potential customers.
  • Analyzing Financial Data: BDO must be able to analyze financial data and market trends to identify opportunities for the bank to expand its business
  • To carry out any other duties assigned by your Line Manager/Supervisor from time to time.

GENERAL COMPETENCIES:

  • High degree of knowledge and familiarity with statistical techniques and analytical tools.
  • Intimate knowledge and familiarity with banking business, products, customers, bb/sheet and P & L.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable on banking technology and businesses and able to quickly assess impact of challenges; change requests etc. to cost and service.
  • Excellent Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong experience of gathering business requirements and facilitating.
  • Proactive self-starter; adept at self-management, able to learn new skills and gain technical experience where skill and knowledge gaps have been identified.
  • University degree in Business Administration, Statistics or Economics and relevant professional qualifications in banking, finance, or marketing.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience in a similar position.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of new evolving technology systems.
