Forvis Mazars in Tanzania is a professional firm of Accountants and Auditors registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) of Tanzania. Forvis Mazars in Tanzania is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our team and support us in delivering client engagements. The role will be based in Dar es Salaam and would require travel to up-countries.

Purposes of the job:

To perform audit and supervisory tasks aimed at ensuring successful completion of assigned audit engagements for review by a manager/partner, through a focus on training, managing and directing daily activities of trainee accountants and audit seniors and performing audit work on high-risk sections.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of audit engagements with oversight from Partners and Senior Management
  • Document working papers and following up on client document request lists, perform audit testing on complex areas of client’s financial statements prepared under various financial reporting frameworks
  • Supervise and review the work of other audit staff and provide timely performance feedback
  • Interact with client personnel to discuss field audit issues discovered during the audit engagement
  • Researching technical guidance to provide senior, managers and partners with appropriate solutions
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with clients during engagement and throughout the year
  • Stay informed of current economic development relevant to each client’s business and industry
  • Advising on financial reporting and audit matters
  • Mentoring and coaching graduates, intermediate, and light senior staff members.
  • Taking a leading role in technical research, business development, financial report preparation, and group reporting

Candidate requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree from a recognized university with at least a Second Upper Degree/GPA of 3.5
  • Be a CPA finalist or ACCA qualified
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial statements audit or a related environment
  • Strong understanding and experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and other assurance-based reporting standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
