Job Description
SUMET is a fast-growing Tech-enabled distribution company transforming the process of new product launches, building credit scoring to provide BNPL to retailers and wholesalers.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Accounting Manager located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for various day-to-day tasks including managing financial statements, performing analytical tasks, handling journal entries, overseeing finance operations, and managing fixed assets.
Responsibilities
- Leading and overseeing the entire operation accounting activities.
- Monitor and mentor/train junior staff, clerks, and bookkeepers.
- Overseeing the collection efforts.
- Maintaining the tax compliance and regular returns and taxes of the company with TRA.
- Advise business owners and individuals regarding the tax code.
- Reporting to the finance manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
- +6 years of experience in accounting
- +2 years of managing the accounting department.
- Strong background working with ERP systems, Odoo knowledge is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the Tanzanian Tax laws.
- Previous experience in building credit policies and collection activities.
- Previous experience in FMCG or Banking is a plus
- Experience in managing financial statements, performing analytical tasks, and handling journal entries (Accounting)
- Strong background in finance and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of fixed assets
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
